01how does it know if my number is seconds or milliseconds?
magnitude: below ~1e10 it's seconds, ~1e13 milliseconds, ~1e16 microseconds, above that nanoseconds — the same way you eyeball it. the detected unit is always shown so you can sanity-check.
02what's the precision?
javascript dates hold milliseconds. microsecond and nanosecond conversions are exact multipliers of the millisecond value — sub-millisecond input precision is not preserved.
03can it handle dates before 1970?
yes — negative epochs work everywhere, including the diff and batch tools.
04why is my timezone wrong?
times render in your browser's local zone by default. pick a specific zone in the epoch → human panel to override it; utc is always shown alongside.
05does anything leave my browser?
no. all conversion is local, there is no backend, and the only thing stored is nothing — refresh and it starts fresh.
